Please join us for a story telling in Italian celebrating  April  25th - Italian Holiday with a story from "Favole al telefono" by Gianni Rodari. Livia Senic (Store Manager) will read "Il Paese con l'esse davanti".
The virtual event will be available on our instagram profile @rizzolibookstore on Saturday April 25 at 11 am.

April 25th is a national Italian holiday commemorating the end of Nazi occupation during the World War II and the victory of the Resistance on April 25th, 1945. To celebrate this important day for the Italian community in NYC as in Italy, Rizzoli Bookstore picked one of the best Italian authors for children, Gianni Rodari

In 2020 we also celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Gianni Rodari's birth. Rizzoli Bookstore, in collaboration with Italian publishers and all Italian Institutions in NYC, was supposed to celebrate his work in the bookstore. With this virtual reading in such a special day, we want to celebrate our Italian roots and the beautiful and inspiring work of this Master of fantasy.

Gianni Rodari was born in Omegna in 1920. After achievign his teaching diploma, he worked as a teacher for a few years. At the ned of the Second World War he began his career as a journalist, which led him to collaborate with numerous magazines. During the Fifties he began to publish his works for children, which immediately achieved a huge success among public and critics. His books were transalted into several languages and have earned many awards. In 1970 he won the prestigious "Hans Christian Andersen" award, considered the "Nobel Prize" of children's literature.
