1133 Broadway (25th - 26th Streets), New York City

Pyeng Threadgill will be celebrating the vinyl release of "Head Full Of Hair, Heart Full Of Song" performing selections from this album, which explores natural hair, ancestry and adornment as sources of power for Black women and women of color, as well as offering selections from her previous album "Portholes to A Love & Other Short Stories" inspired by short stories by world renowned authors such as Jamaica Kincaid, Isabelle Allende and Jhumpa Lahiri.

Joining her will be guitarist Andy Bianco and drummer Evan Pazner.

"I use music to create spaces that tell stories. Sometimes the music is performed in a traditional music setting but lately I have been drawn to less traditional music spaces because of how they help people to reimagine music. I want for people remember to fully connect to themselves through music by listening with their entire bodies and all their senses just the way one does when visiting someone's home. This is what New Porch Music inspires me to look into. Our individual and collective stories. My hope is that before, during and afterwards you will consider the deeper ways in which music, conversation and even silence impact and connect us all" (Pyeng Threadgill).
