This exhibition is about the drawer : a particular typology in the furnishing history, already well represented by some of the historic objects of exceptional value in the collection of Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli. The exhibition focuses focuses on the contemporary world of drawers, obviously functional elements, capable of containing, ordering and hiding, but, as stated by curator Beppe Finessi. These characteristics of use, even capable of suggesting visions, evoking memories and suggestions. " Young designers, as well as the great design masters, have reinterpreted and interpreted this domestic presence so consolidated in our tradition of living. On display there are chest of drawers from classic vertical development, where handles can also become a significant part of the project, as in Genesis by Alik Cavaliere; There are contemporary masters who have played with decoration, as in the creations of Alessandro Mendini; There are the drawers made by Tejo Remy, casually stuck on each other. And yet sophisticated works by Mario Botta and Ettore Sottsass and the extraordinary creations of Shiro Kuramata, the sought-after voice of Japanese design of the twentieth century. Includes Salvador Dalí's painting The Venus of Milo with drawers of 1936, the creations of Alessandro Mendini, where the decoration reaches artistic levels; randomly scratched drawers by Tejo Remy and the achievements of Mario Botta, Hector Sottsass, and Shiro Kuramata.
