Edward Gorey's delightfully dreary style may be most associated with Halloween, but he would have been the first to tell you that there's a fine line between merry and macabre. Gorey created many Christmas-themed works and characters, including this illustration of Santa, pulled from the pages of The Twelve Terrors of Christmas. His unique take on Jolly Old St. Nicholas is as eccentric as his worldview--and just as entertaining.
